On September 6, 2017 the US and British Virgin Islands got hit by Hurricane Irma, the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic basin. The damage was catastropic and relief efforts began almost immediately from both the private sector and the local and federal governments. St.Croix and Puerto Rico were the lifelines until September 20th when they got hit by Maria, another Category 5 storm that wiped out both islands and isloated the territories.

Shortly after Irma had passed, country music star and part time St.John resident, Kenny Chesney formed the Love For Love City Foundation and sprang into action, flying in relief supplies and workers on his own jet. When that wasn't enough the LFLC Foundation started chartering other aircraft and began running two to three flights a week bringing in generators, chain saws and everything concievable to begin the cleanup and rebuilding and evacuating those who had been injured and lost everything. While the recovery continues the attention to the needs of the territories dwindles and the money needed to recover and rebuild is starting to run out or is caught up in needless bureaucracy and redtape. 

In an effort to raise money and keep the awareness alive, Drew Alston, the founder of the mid 1990's Athens, GA, High Hat Music Club, decided, at the encouragement of his friend Ripley Keller, to stage an allstar, High Hat veterans reunion show at the World Famous 40 Watt Club. Response was immediate and overwhelming and a second show was quickly added. Donated, collectable items from the Drive By Truckers, G Love and Special Sauce, REM, Widespread Panic, Kenney Chesney, Jason Thrasher and many others started to pour in and in an effort to reach as many people as possible it was decided to do an online auction.
