Amas Musical Theatre, one of New York’s oldest musical theatre companies and celebrated pioneer in multiculturalism and diversity, is proud to be celebrating our 47th year! On March 28, 2016 we are gathering for a special Benefit Gala in support of our theatre and education programs. Tony Award-winner Donna McKechnie (A Chorus Line) has graciously come on board as our Honorary Chair.

Our Special Honorees for the evening include Tony Award-winning actress Priscilla Lopez, who first came to prominence in the seminal musical A Chorus Line, originating the role of Morales and introducing the classic song “What I Did for Love.” Priscilla will be on hand to receive The 2016 Rosie Award. Named for our founder, Rosetta LeNoire, the Award honors breakthrough theatrical artists whose extraordinary career accomplishments have helped build bridges that unite our communities, and companies whose outstanding commitments to diversity exemplify the Amas mission.

Ampacet Corporation, the Westchester-based, global thermoplastics leader, is also receiving The 2016 Rosie Award for its record of over 20 years of major support for Amas programming.

The entertainment centerpiece is a concert by the extraordinary, Tony-nominated Norm Lewis, star of Broadway’s Porgy and Bess, Les Miz, and Sondheim on Sondheim, to name a few. Norm was our Rosie Award Honoree at last year’s event.

At the event, The Rosetta LeNoire Scholarship is presented to a deserving college-bound student attending our Teen Academy. As has long been our custom, our teens will perform a number from their upcoming end-of-year production.

The Auction opens online on March 17th. The online portion of the auction closes on March 27th at 10pm and will resume Live on March 28th at the Baruch Performing Arts Center from 6pm-10pm.
