Joe Brittain

is an artist living and working in New York City. He is represented by Catinca Tabacaru Gallery, New York. He has exhibited widely around the United States in both solo and group shows at galleries and institutions.

He was the recipient of the NYFA Sculpture Fellowship, the Ramsey Award Winner and a Grant Nominee of the Rema Hort Man Foundation. His work has been acquired into international private collections as well as public collections including that of the Wanas Kunst, Sweden.

This painting is from a series of material studies for a monumental work completed in 2015. The series mixes a wide variety of rare and household materials combined on top of and soaked into T shirt material to create the impression of a wild cosmos or starry night sky.
