Description

30" x 40"

Marsha Tarlow-Steinberg, born in New York City, spent her early childhood on the Lower East Side in the Alfred E. Smith Projects, a low income housing project inhabited mostly by European refugees from World War II. Both her classical background (her mother is from London and her father from Vienna) and her appreciation of the arts are what nurtured her love of painting.

"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything" Vincent van Gogh....

Art is an instrument of knowledge and of communication and risk taking. It is when the hand, the head and the heart get together. Like any language, it establishes a connection between two people - the artist and the viewer. Painting is not a performing art, nor a spectator sport, nor a contest to see who can attract the most attention. It is, quite simply, a language.
