Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles in collaboration with GoldenVoice and FYF, celebrate the re-opening of the historic United Artists Theatre with Spiritualized, performing Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space. Following 2010’s now-legendary revival at Radio City Music Hall, the group revisits the album’s gospel splendor — complete with full 30-piece orchestra and choir — for the first time on the West Coast at the newly restored Downtown landmark.
Built by the maverick film studio in 1927, the ornate theater is a testament to a group of visionary iconoclasts from Hollywood’s Golden Age — artists whose imagination and rebellious initiative helped to reshape the American landscape. It’s an opulent place brimming with history and inspiration, and we couldn’t think of a more fitting way to re-open its doors than with the rapturous drone of Spiritualized’s masterpiece.
The Theatre at Ace Hotel, formerly the historic and first United Artists Theatre -- founded in 1927 by Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin and Douglas Fairbanks – will be finally re-opening its doors as a live spectacle venue in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles.
The team at Ace Hotel has been lovingly restoring the place and will be celebrating its reopening by welcoming British band Spiritualized for two sold-out shows on February 14th and 15th .
To support the Los Angeles Historic Theatre Foundation, Ace Hotel is giving away a room at their newest outpost in Downtown Los Angeles as well as two tickets for the opening show, on Valentine’s Day.
