Carl Cherry Center for the Arts Director's Cut Silent Auction

Help Make Art Happen For All

The Carl Cherry Center for the Arts Director's Cut

Join us for a celebration of all things art at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts' 2nd Annual Director's Cut on December 16 from 5-7pm.  This one night only exhibit, art sale and silent auction will feature artwork from members of the Board of Directors (current and former) as well as from friends of the Cherry.

Alongside the art, which will only be available to purchase at the event, the evening will feature a silent auction.  We would like to invite our friends from near and far to bid on the silent auction items prior to as well as at the event.  You need not be present to win, so bid away!

On the evening of the Director’s Cut, there will be carol singing, food, wine and hot apple cider to help put you in the holiday spirit.  So stop by, get a glass of wine or hot apple cider, meander through the gallery, stop to warm yourself by the fireplace and the bid away on the priceless artwork and fun silent auction items.

All money raised at this event go to fund programs at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts.

About the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts

Since its opening in 1948 by founder Carmel artist Jeanne D’Orge, the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts (Cherry) has strived to stay true to its mission of presenting quality and diverse artistic, educational and cultural programs in Monterey County.  At the core of its mission, the Cherry was established to help support experimental fine arts and projects in the sciences.  In strategic efforts to engage audiences, the Cherry sponsors public programs that foster interaction between artists and the community.

The Cherry showcases diverse visiting artists in year-round gallery exhibits. The majority of exhibits are curated by the Cherry and range from historical to contemporary art, including painting, photography, ceramics, assemblage and sculpture.

Dedicated to fostering curiosity and artistry in young people, the Cherry hosts an annual high school art exhibit, celebrating the talent of area high school students, and sponsors the annual Monterey County High School Poetry Awards. Hundreds of Monterey County students participate in the poetry program each year.

Additionally, each year, the Cherry recognizes the talents of local high-school art students by dedicating an entire exhibit to their work. Thinking Out Loud is a display of works by Monterey County High School artists, featuring a wide range of media — including painting, drawing, ink-relief, sculpture and collage.

In addition to the Cherry art galleries and youth programs, The Cherry houses a theater that presents eclectic readings, discussions, plays, film series and musical performances, many of which are focused on the nature of art itself.

“There are no strings attached to the help we give. We don’t care whether those we help become famous or not. Our reward is in making it possible for an artist to be true to himself.”

– Jeanne D’Orge, founder of the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts
