Merle Spandorfer Memorial Auction

Welcome to the Merle Spandorfer Memorial online auction. Merle was an instructor at Cheltenham Center for the Art's for over 50 years. She taught painting and printmaking to both children and adults. Her time spent teaching students to pursue their creative work without the use of harmful chemicals placed her at the forefront of the printmaking world. Merle was beloved by her students and will be missed by all. Join us in celebrating some of her works, and please consider bidding on an item or donating to the center on her behalf. Merle Spandorfer's paintings, prints and artists books are in the permanent collections of over 100 museums and corporations including The Museum of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Whitney Museum of American Art, The Israel Museum, The Baltimore Museum and The Library of Congress.

This auction closes Wednesday May 16th at 5pm so don't forget to check back in periodically to see if you've been outbid on an item before the closing hour! Shipping is the responsibility of the bidder, and can be arranged by contacting the Center at ccamarketing@cheltenhamarts.org or by calling 215-379-4660. 

The Art Center is one of the country's oldest community art centers and is vital to the cultural life of Cheltenham Township, the City of Philadelphia, and surrounding suburbs. More then 2,500 adults and children participate in the Center's art classes, theatre, summer art camp, and other musical and artistic performances each year. The Center relies on the generosity of grants, business sponsors, memberships, and individual giving to thrive and continue to be a jewel in the community.
