Merry and Darrell Yates were both diagnosed with cancer in 2017. Merry
was diagnosed with breast cancer. Darrell was diagnosed with stage 4
kidney cancer, which metastasized to his lymph nodes and lungs.

Merry had surgery on December 27. While surgery was considered a
success, the pathology report showed traces of cancer, so she will
more than likely need radiation treatment in the very near future. She
is one of the strongest women I’ve ever known and will beat this. The
company she works for was sold effective December 31, 2017.
Unfortunately, they will no longer pay her short-term disability, as
well as other healthcare benefits.

Thirty-eight days after being diagnosed, Darrell, age 64, passed away
in his home. Darrell was a foster care provider for more than 10
years. He found joy in helping others. His favorite hobbies were
fishing, gardening and playing cribbage. Most of all, he loved
spending time with his family.

We are raising funds to help Merry with her daily and medical
expenses. She is a strong, caring and compassionate mother, wife,
sister and friend. She is selfless and loved by many.
