Fred Haise, Jr. is a former NASA astronaut, test pilot and one of 24 people to have flown to the moon.  Fred was the lunar module pilot on Apollo 13.  He will be the guest speaker for the Glen Oaks Community College Viking Speaker Series on May 17, 2019 at Three Rivers High School.  Fred will share how his community college experience set him on his path to success and his Apollo 13 experience. 

Prior to his speaking engagement on May 17, 2019, Fred will spend one hour, over dinner, with a group of up to 5 guests.  The dinner will be served in the newly opened Flora Kirsch Beck Art Gallery on the Glen Oaks Community College campus, 62249 Shimmel Road, Centreville, MI. 

Preparing the meal that evening is Ryan Collins.  His father, Terry Collins, will be assisting.  Ryan, who is from Mendon, taught himself how to cook using cook books from Michelin three star chefs.  He describes his cooking style as centered around gourmet European Cuisine using classical French technique.  He enjoys incorporating local seasonal ingredients and putting a spin on traditional dishes.  He likes simple food, presented well, and to not overcomplicate things so the ingredients speak for themselves.  Ryan is also well versed in American barbeque.  Ensuring that everyone has an amazing evening spent with great food, great drinks, and most importantly…great company is his passion and goal when cooking.   When not cooking, Ryan is a Senior Estimator for Frederick Construction in Vicksburg.

The winning bidder will be able to choose the guests (no more than 5) to meet and dine with Fred on May 17, 2019.  Fred is expected to be at dinner from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
