The Bryce Golden Fund for behavioral health supports programs and organizations that help low- and no-income individuals recover from trauma and addiction; the fund also supports baseline behavioral health training for medical professionals and advanced training for behavioral health professionals. We hope to start issuing grants in summer 2020.

 

The fund was established in memory of Bryce Golden, who passed from cancer in fall 2019, age 40.

 

Bryce was a therapist at SPBHS (The Center). His specialties included healing from trauma, schema therapy, and EMDR. Over his 24-year career he served diverse populations, including immigrants, juvenile offenders, and those with dementia. Bryce's professional life was largely committed to help people with co-occurring disorders, recognizing the inter-relatedness of behavioral health and substance abuse disorders, and their impact on individuals, families, and communities. Behavioral health in the LGBTQ community was a cause close to his heart. He found great joy in being fully present with others and understanding their perspectives, especially when their perspectives challenged his own. Bryce had no interest in authority or status. He championed the downtrodden and delighted in cage-rattlers and pot-stirrers.

 

The Bryce Golden Fund for Behavior Health was created to carry on Bryce's healing work in the Homer community.
