Mitchell County Shepherd's Staff

Virtual Empty Bowls Event and Auction

Thank you for your continued support of Mitchell County Shepherd's Staff.

Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement coordinated by artists and crafts people and food pantries in an effort to feed those in need in their communities.  It was started by John Hartom and Lisa Blackburn in 1990 and now supports food charities around the globe.

Like many things, the Empty Bowls event looks different this year, but our community has MORE individuals with EMPTY BOWLS than ever.  The MC Shepherd's Staff needs your help now more than ever.

Please enjoy our online auction, have fun, and bid with confidence that your contribution will stay in Mitchell County and help your neighbors in need.

In lieu of tickets and our traditional event this year, there will be a limited supply of beautifully handcrafted and unique bowls for sale.  To be a lucky recipient of a limited bowl you must donate at least $40.00.  You will get a true surprise when you receive your bowl!  However, this year it will be empty...please take this handsome piece home as your reminder that not everyone's bowl is full and that we must do our part to make sure our brothers and sisters have what they need.

Please use the green drop down menu in the top left-hand corner and select "Exclusive Empty Bowl" to purchase your bowl.  You may bid on auction items by selecting "All Items."

If you make an online donation for a bowl, or if you are an auction item winner, you can pick up your bowl and/or auction item on Saturday, August 15, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Spruce Pine (125 Tappan Street).  To make getting your bowl easy and convenient, this will be a “drive through” pick-up.  Simply pull up and you will receive your bowl along with an added surprise!
