Since 1996, the Vail Valley Charitable Fund has provided assistance and community support for Vail Valley locals experiencing financial need due to a medical crisis.
Our mission is to provide financial assistance to those suffering from a medical crisis or long-term illness; this is what sets us apart. Our program portfolio is built to achieve whole-body health and wellness, resiliency, and financial security.
- Direct Aid provides one-time grants of up to $7,500 to residents in medical crises. In 2022, we supported 67 individual grants with $283,665, up from 46 individual grants with $163,317 in 2021.
- In December 2022, we began planning for a community-based fundraiser for a local 23-year-old in a horrible rafting accident that caused paraplegia. We helped raise $212,000 to pay for an all-terrain wheelchair and general contracting fees to ensure their home is ADA compliant.
- Eagle County Smiles (ECS) provides uninsured children with dental treatment, prevention, and healthy habits. Thanks to a collaboration with 17 local dental providers, ECS served 43 children with 931 procedures totaling $78,263, up significantly from 35 children with 727 procedures totaling $61,659 in 2021.
- Eagle County Grins was formed to provide adult dental care. We give up to $3,000 for treatment and educate about Medicaid or CHP+ benefits. Our dental programs fill gaps that no other organization can serve; oral health correlates with overall health.
- Vail Breast Cancer Group provides comforts and connects to our direct aid program.
- Eagle County Moves provides physical therapy to grant recipients.
