Since its introduction via the “Now Everyone Can Be An Astronaut” television advertising campaign in 2012, The Museum of Flight’s astronaut character has become the public face of the institution and a Northwest icon.
In celebration our 50th anniversary, the Museum launched a public art project titled, "Astronauts on the Town," featuring 25 six-foot astronaut statues, each uniquely decorated by local artists and displayed in public locations and businesses within the greater Seattle area.
Now, you can own one of these incredible statues yourself, or give one as a gift for the space fan in your life! 23 out of the 25 astronauts are waiting for homes. (Two of them were purchased at our 50th Anniversary Gala and Auction back in June.)
Bidding is easy:
1. Browse the astronaut gallery
2. When you find your favorite, place your bid, and set-up your account
3. Keep bidding until the auction closes on Sept.12 or guarantee your choice by clicking the Buy-it-Now price.
All proceeds will benefit The Museum of Flight's unrestricted fund and support our vision to be foremost educational air and space museum in the world.
The auction begins Saturday, August 1 at 10 a.m. PST
The auction closes Saturday, September 12 at 10 a.m. PST
