Michael Bailey-Gates is an American artist based in New York City.The Rhode Island native holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the School of Visual Arts. He primarily works in photography, sculpture, and filmmaking and is best known for his figurative photographs "Angels " shown with Visual Aids, NYC. The imaginative series utilizes the semiotics of queer folk-lore to point out shared experiences in a contemporary context. After being awarded the Robert Mapplethorpe Foundation Award- Out magazine described him as being best know for "his own surrealist universe populated by beautiful queer characters."
