A cake made of blood. Wow. The legendary blood cake returns, this time for you! For those unfamiliar with the wonders of the Blood Cake, blood can be used as an effective egg substitute in cooking. It was discovered a couple years back that you can make meringue out of blood, and I got Harvard to pay to see if it was possible to make a version of Angel Food cake with blood instead of egg. Turns out, it works.

Take this Definitely-Not-An-Angel-Food-Cake home for your family and friends. Astound your neighbors with a cake made of blood! The taste is eerily similar to that of angel food cake, with an almost undetectable (3 out of 4 people who were not me couldn’t tell the difference, and I couldn’t either, so I’m pretty sure that one person was just a weenie) hint of iron.

Protein. It’s good for you.

(Depending on availability, this cake will either be made with cow or pig’s blood. Pickup at auction. Source of blood will be specified day of. Picture is just exemplary and does not represent what the actual cake will look like.)

Additional Information

Everyone who wants to support the community is welcome to bid on items online here, and to attend the live auction. You do not need to be a member of HRSFA. HRSFA and the organizers reserve the right to decline bids or exclude troublesome individuals from the live auction if necessary.

Items that hit 5x their market value will go to live auction.

If you win an item in the online auction, the organizers will contact you for mailing or collection information. In the case of declined cards, the next highest bidder will be considered to have won and be contacted.

The items that go to live auction can be won even by those who will not be in Boston on the 12th. You can participate in the live event remotely by calling in to the auction by phone. If you want to do this, email hrsfaevents at gmail dot com before 17.00 EST (5pm in Harvard) February 11th to ask for the numbers.
