River Curry

Description

River is a multi-disciplinary artist who was born and raised in the Tampa Bay Area. They studied sculpture and public art at Florida State University and continued their design education in the University of Utah's DesignBuildBLUFF program. Since coming back to Tampa, River apprentices at Print St. Pete and works as a studio assistant in Ybor City. They enjoy working with their hands most, be it setting type, welding grills, creating earthworks, carving blocks, or experimenting with reclaimed materials.

International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event occurring on March 31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.

Here in St. Petersburg, we are asking 10 local artists to paint on 3’x5’ polyester trans pride flags. Flags will be displayed at 10 businesses on Central Ave for the month of March. The intention is to create dialogue and visibility around transgender people & their accomplishments. At the end of the month, flags will be auctioned off and proceeds will go towards Transgender Programs offered by Metro Inclusive Health and Trans Support Network (TSN).

All winning bids must be picked up at Metro Inclusive Health by April 15, 2020.
