Hannah Powell is a mixed media artist based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Their work focuses on ink, botanical collage, and painting. They are inspired by the duality of Florida’s beauty and decay, its permanence as homeland and transience as a liminal space for tourists and snow birds, and its simultaneous abundance and scarcity. They seek to evoke the contradictory nature of Florida and integrate elements of the wild, erotic, and sapphic into their work. Hannah views art as a tool for collective liberation, and strives to create pieces that celebrate queer joy, desire, and pleasure.

International Transgender Day of Visibility is an annual event occurring on March 31 dedicated to celebrating transgender people and raising awareness of discrimination faced by transgender people worldwide, as well as a celebration of their contributions to society.

Here in St. Petersburg, we are asking 10 local artists to paint on 3’x5’ polyester trans pride flags. Flags will be displayed at 10 businesses on Central Ave for the month of March. The intention is to create dialogue and visibility around transgender people & their accomplishments. At the end of the month, flags will be auctioned off and proceeds will go towards Transgender Programs offered by Metro Inclusive Health and Trans Support Network (TSN).

All winning bids must be picked up at Metro Inclusive Health by April 15, 2020.
