In her Unfinished Now series, Morgan Everhart invites meditation on the elusiveness of time by evoking the same floral composition at different points of the day. From the coolness of early light to the tenebrous atmosphere of nightfall, Everhart's compositions capture sundry moods and effects by distilling the floral arrangement to its barest essence. In formulating her blooms, Everhart drew on both a living bouquet and a composition by the great botanical artist Redouté (1759-1840), thus conflating the present and past, as well as the incarnate and inanimate. The results are like whispers on canvas, celebrating the venerability of flesh and reminding us to make memories of its velvet touch. Because nothing lasts forever...and that's really a good thing.
