Laura Lander is an author/illustrator, recently transplanted from Kentucky to Maine, where she fills her days with painting, nature and occasional visits with grandchildren.

Scatter Good Lovin’ is a result of synchronistic serendipity of the best kind. Arriving at the farm to take interior photos of the intriguing goat shed with the slanting sun shining through its western window, I was unexpectedly treated to this picturesque display of mutual affection between the farmer and his goats. I immediately recognized the subject for my painting.

How did you first hear about Growing to Give?
Through the farm’s friend and neighbor, Carol Nelson.

What inspired you to offer a piece of your art for the Growing to Give Art Auction? I was immediately happy to create and offer a painting for such a worthy cause and fine people!

How would you describe the piece you are donating? A double helping: the capture of a spontaneous display of sweet, mutual affection within a warm surrounding of pleasing architectural lines and light.

What inspired you to paint this scene? Being there at that present moment and seeing the obvious potential for a beautiful composition.
