Osprey Wilds board member, David Chasson will offer one person a full day introduction to wild rice harvesting. You and David will canoe ricing waters, one person guiding while the other uses knockers (or flails) to harvest the rice. Location will be within a one-hour drive of Osprey Wilds. Date to be determined within first two weeks of September 2021. Manoomin in the Ojibway language, wild rice has been a valuable food source and a culturally significant resource to Native Americans for centuries. Note: Harvesting wild rice involves a full immersion into the wild rice environment. This includes rice flies and rice worms and a few spiders.
