Renowned Mississippi watercolorist Wyatt Waters created this custom painting, "Justice Like a River," for the Mississippi Center for Justice’s annual Mississippi on the Potomac event. The painting depicts a gospel choir performing on the banks of the Tallahatchie River at Graball Landing, where the body of Emmett Till was pulled from the muddy waters.
“It’s an honor to paint this historic and sacred place,” Waters said. “This past year, we’ve seen that race relations are still a problem. I hope this painting can bring attention to the ongoing discussion of race relations in Mississippi. I hope we can find a better justice for our future.”
The painting is 15" x 11" and is unframed. Proceeds from its sale will benefit the Mississippi Center for Justice, allowing for the vital work of creating a just society and building healthy communities across Mississippi to continue.
