“Food is how we create community. I learnt cooking from my mother, who has written all the recipes in Bengali language, and that’s the most prized possession I have. So when I cook for you actually I am introducing you to my culture and my family. It is in the kitchen where my aunts, grandmother and cousins would meet and share stories… so please come with your appetite and stories.” – Dipankar
“I come from a vegetarian family. My mother has a phrase for good cooking. It is called Kai Manam in my language, Tamil, which means hand aroma or the fragrance that arises from the hand that cooks. My mother certainly had it in abundance. She cooked simply and my family and relatives loved the food that came from her hands. I will offer you my Kai Manam that comes directly from my mother. She learnt most of her cooking from the women in my father’s family since she did not cook growing up. She loved to experiment and so do I.” – Meena
