I have always loved seeing this barn on Icicle Road, just a bit before the turn to go up further or turn into Sleep Lady Mountain Resort. The old barns, still upright, are few and far between to find anymore.
I had the privilege to grow up on a farm, and we had a big red barn built by my granddad. I spent much of my childhood in and around that barn. I believe that my love and connection with animals and nature was greatly nurtured by the animals that this barn sheltered. I spent countless hours with them, and worked and played in our barn.
My painting is inspired by these memories, of and for my love of our valley here, and the mountains behind the barn that support our watershed.
