National Alopecia Areata Foundation

Gwinnett Support Group Art Auction

On August 2, 2014, the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) will be the recipient of funds raised from NAAF Charity Art Auction hosted by NAAF Gwinnett Support Group in Dacula The Gwinnett Support Group is hosting this event in honor of their friends and family who are affected by alopecia areata.

The National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF) is the world center for those dedicated affected by alopecia areata. Alopecia areata (al-oh-PEE-shah air-ee-AH-tah) is a highly unpredictable, autoimmune skin disease resulting in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere on the body. This common but very challenging and capricious disease affects approximately 2 percent of the population overall, including more than 5 million people in the United States alone. Due to the fact that much of the public is still not familiar with alopecia areata, the disease can have a profound impact on one's life and functional status, both at work and at school.

The charity art auction will be held at the Gwinnett Convention Center and will feature food, cash bar, music, silent and live auctions, and updated NAAF info. Regency Fine Art will be providing the auction items including signed sports items, celebrity memorabilia, one of a kind pieces for your office or home, vacation getaways and more. The silent auction will include items donated by Andretti racing, Atlanta Hawks, Publix shopping center and so much more. The event is $5 in advance or $10 at the door. The ticket will include entry into the event and your food and drinks. For those who want to donate but cannot attend, you can purchase a ticket online and you will be provided a link to participate in the silent auction with live, up to date, bidding so you do not miss out on any items of interest.

Proceeds from the event are being raised on behalf of NAAF. The Foundation provides reliable publications, a support network of families, education conferences for families, a web site, scholarship, a research program, and more.

NAAF’s mission is to encourage and fund medical research for better treatment and ultimate cure, provide support and resources for those with the condition, and raise public consciousness of the disease.
