Description

“My pickaxe structure tackles the stereotypes and
prejudice of Chicano males in our society. Detailed
images of dogs from Segundo Barrio are used to
metaphorically speak about how Chicano males are
often seen as aggressive or menacing at first glance
… The seemingly aggressive actions of the dogs are
actually images taken of them while playing around,
fetching or begging for treats.” - Francisco Delgado (Size: 59.5"L x 12"W x 5'H)

Additional Information

Francisco Delgado was born in Ciudad Juárez and
grew up in El Paso’s Segundo Barrio. His “Bordeño”
artworks are informed by the social and cultural
struggles inherent in life on the U.S.-Mexico border,
confronting the conflicts of racism, identity struggles;
Mexican and American traditions; and the U.S.
government’s immigration policies.
