In this type of auction, the item is put on sale on the internet. The sale happens over computers connected to the internet. Auctions done on the internet have specific timelines (opening and closing dates). Bidders enter their bids against other competing bidders on the internet for the same item. The person with the highest bid at closing time, "wins the bid."
