Cookoffs are a classic American tradition and are perfect for when the seasons are changing. Yale Hospitality has embraced this and has developed a Yale tradition of their own – The Chili & Chowder Cookoff!  Embracing the stated mission to create a memorable dining experience and to support the Yale community, Yale Hospitality hosts an annual event each Fall to witness the area’s finest chili and chowder recipes and New Haven-wide bragging rights all in support of the United Way.

Along with the culinary competition is a wide offering of spectacular items to bid on both prior to and during the event in our silent auction, which remains open during voting period. Seasonal, culinary, and Yale-branded items are available, as well as gift certificate from local restaurants or businesses which further support the community aspect of the event.

The true winner of this event is the local chapter of the United Way, who receives the proceeds from the event donations and silent auction item receipts.
