SLA is a non-profit Charter middle school on the Island of Venice, Florida. We serve all of Sarasota County.  Our school has long been an A rated school.

SLA believes in leadership and community service as well as an excellent curriculum for our students.   Through our CAP(Civil Air Patrol), the Builders Club, that volunteers with the sea turtle programs, Relay for Life (American Cancer Society), community activism with Adopt a Park and many other ways our Students and staff donate their time, the children learn the merits of being a kind, thoughtful person involved with their community and local "neighbors."

We are having the auction to raise funding for safety and security.  SLA is being proactive in the reality that our schools must be safer than years ago. This past year2018/19, we have invested over $105,000 in safety and security.  SLA has hired former U.S. Marine Corps Officer Andre' Bouchane as our Safe School Officer. While he took the safety course the State has, his experience in the Marines absoluetly dovetails with the schools needs. Along with a new intercom system, we needed a bulletproof door.  The  security front door alone was $39,000 dollars.
