A Tune From Debbie Jackson

We are all likely to remember the year 2020 for the rest of our lives, for the losses and in some cases for the new opportunities that arose because of necessity. Many of us will have lost loved ones, and we all lost access to activities we love, and we forged new ways to sustain ourselves. If you would like to commemorate a loss or a gain—whether it’s a person, access to a place or event, a part of your identity, a hope deferred, a new skill learned—we think having a piece of music to remind you of it is a lovely and meaningful gesture.

The talented and beloved Debbie Jackson, pianist with the popular English Country Dance band Childgrove and the tunesmith who gave us the haunting and beautiful music to the dances “Whately Barn,” “Emma’s Commencement,” and others, has offered to write a tune in commemoration of whatever you choose to honor. It could be a happy or solemn tune, and the winning bidder will be able to discuss this with Debbie.
