Ridglea Country Club is proud to sponsor our 8th annual Veterans Classic to raise funds for the North Texas Warrior Golf Association (NTWGA). This year’s event will be held Friday, November 12th, and Sunday, November 14th, 2021. Friday includes a Gala with an Open Bar, a military themed seated dinner, a Silent Auction and the Tin Man Band. Sunday’s event will include Brunch, a Scramble, and a Ceremony to honor Ridglea’s Veterans. We greatly appreciate your donation.
Curtis Fowler, an Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran, on the mission of the NTWGA: “Combat is tough. In many ways the return home can be worse. I can vouch from personal experience, that if it were not for the North Texas Warrior Golf Association, some veterans might no longer be with us. The NTWGA was founded for the sole purpose of bringing the rehabilitative benefits of the game of golf to post- 9/11 wounded and injured Veterans. Based on my own life experiences, and after nine years of NTWGA's existence, we’ve seen time and again that golf can be more than a game; if taught and played the right way; golf can serve as a vehicle for recovery.
In 2020, not only were we able to build on the successes of the past, but the NTWGA also laid the foundation for structured growth in the future. We issued 14 sets of custom-fitted golf club sets to eligible post-9/11 wounded and injured Veterans, conducted more than eight golf clinics, provided golf course access that totaled over 400 rounds of free golf, and extended NTWGA’s reach throughout the DFW Metroplex. Most of the money was donated by Ridglea Country Club through their annual Veterans Classic Tournament.
Although the core of the NTWGA program resides in our eight-week clinic series, golf experiences are just as exciting. Trips to the Masters Tournament, the AT&T Byron Nelson Pro- Am, the Hootie and the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am and partnerships with TaylorMade/Adidas Golf did much to solidify golf as a lifelong pursuit for many of our NTWGA warrior golfers. With Ridglea’s help the NTWGA has never been better positioned to empower wounded veterans one fairway at a time. Last year’s event provided donations that cover our annual operating budget. This year’s event already has donations far exceeding our current budget.”
