Officially dedicated on Oct. 19, 2013, the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge blooms on the historic 1925 Broad River bridge in Lake Lure, NC. When the bridge was closed to traffic in 2011, a group of interested folks got permission to preserve the bridge and together created gardens on the 155-foot structure and along a pathway at both ends of the three-arch span itself. Their mission was to create a
"Gateway to Somewhere Beautiful"
for the enjoyment of the public. And that is just what they did!
This incredible one-acre space with its 30 individually themed gardens is lovingly maintained by a group of about 30 volunteers, several of whom were there from the beginning. They are known as the "Friends of the Flowering Bridge." The organization is a 501(C)3 and is sustained by donations from the Friends, partners, residents, and guests who visit and enjoy the Bridge.
Members of the Lake Lure Artists and Lake Lure Flowering Bridge volunteers have hand-painted and created a collection of unique and eye-catching Painted/Decorated Bears. They are constructed from marine-grade plywood and treated with a durable exterior protectant coating. The bear's dimensions are 18" high by 24" long. They are meant to decorate your home or garden. Their longevity will depend on exposure to the weather.
Visitors have had the chance to enjoy them in the gardens. We are now pleased to be able to auction these one-of-a-kind pieces as a FUNDRAISER for the Bridge. Not only will you support the Bridge as a bidder, but you'll also have a piece of local art (or 2 or 3!) to enhance your gardens at home.
"Time to get Bear on the Bridge!"
We encourage you to bid while you're in the area or from the comfort of your own home. Don't let this opportunity pass you – BUY!
Click "View Items" at the top left to see the bears and beginning on Oct. 15th bidding can begin.
We suggest that in order to ensure the durability of this bear for as long as possible
that you display it in a protected area and out of the elements.
Thank you for your support!
