DeLorean Reunion Charity Auction

Proceeds to benefit European Guide Dogs

In 1980 a group of dedicated people working in Belfast produced the first iconic stainless steel DeLorean car.   This surrealistic gull-winged car became the Back to the Future car, starring in three Hollywood films.

On 3 May 2015 the surviving men and women who created the car are coming together with current DeLorean owners in Northern Ireland for the first reunion of its type, 35 years after the first car was produced and the year in which the films were set.   To commemorate this unique event, former employees are generously donating some of their most treasured memorabilia to be auctioned for charity.  They have benefitted from their keepsakes for many years and now want to pass them on to the next generation to appreciate and conserve whilst, at the same time, supporting a worthwhile cause.

Their chosen charity is the European Guide Dog Federation, whose President, David Adams, was the Financial Controller of DeLorean.  Over the years he gradually lost his sight and has used a guide dog for the past five years.

A guide dog can be a lifeline for a blind person, enabling them to get out and about.  However the benefit is lost if guide dogs are denied access to places where people normally go.  EGDF works for the acceptance of guide dogs throughout Europe and also helps develop guide dog facilities in countries where they are lacking.  Information about the work of EGDF can be seen at www.EGDFed.org.

The auction is now open for bids and will finish at the reunion on May 3rd.  Through this website  DeLorean fans and collectors from around the world can bid as well as those who attend in Belfast.
